Rideau Transit Maintenance (RTM)
Rideau Transit Maintenance (RTM) is a General Partnership firm of ACS Infrastructure Canada, SNC-Lavalin, and EllisDon. RTM has been awarded a 30-year contract to maintain the Confederation Line, the new light rail transit system in Ottawa.
More than 200 employees work for Rideau Transit Maintenance, two-thirds of whom originate from its main supplier Alstom.
Meet the Team
Mario Guerra – Chief Executive Officer & Acting General Manager
Mario has been with the Ottawa Light Rail Transit project since 2016 and previously served as Vice President, Rail Operations at SNC-Lavalin. He brings with him 40 years of extensive knowledge and experience in the transit industry, predominantly gained at the Toronto Transit Commission and New York City Transit. As Chief Executive Officer of Rideau Transit Maintenance, Mario is responsible for all operational, maintenance and performance related issues on the Confederation Line.
Steven Nadon – Director, Maintenance
Steve has been with the Ottawa Light Rail Transit project since 2017. In his three and a half years with the project Steve has held various roles with the constructor, including Lead Tester of the Power Supply and Distribution Systems, Testing and Commissioning Manager and Testing and Commissioning Director. He also brings his many years of experience in maintenance and field service from his roles in the high-tech industry in Ottawa. As the Maintenance Director, Steve will ensure that the light rail train system in Ottawa is always fit for service.
James Messel, P. Eng. – Director, Business Performance & Analytics
James graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering and brings a strong background of maintenance management and engineering experience. Originally joining Rideau Transit Maintenance (RTM) in 2014 as an Infrastructure Maintenance Engineer, James progressed to Operations Interface Manager, then Senior Manager of Special Projects, and is currently the Director of Business Performance and Analytics of RTM.
Tauheed Ali Bhatti, CPA, CMA – Director, Finance
Tauheed brings a wealth of experience in the finance and accounting arena and has worked with leading real estate investment and facility management services companies in the areas of asset management and consulting services for hospital, bridge, and road Public-Private Partnerships (P3). With both CMA and CPA designations, Tauheed holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.
Helen Bobat – Special Advisor, Communications
In addition to her role as Director, Communications for the Rideau Transit Group, Helen Bobat serves as Special Advisor, Communications for Rideau Transit Maintenance. Helen brings more than 25 years of experience in strategic communications, which include government, stakeholder and media relations, issues and crises management and internal employee communications.
Marie-Eve Belzile, P.Eng., MBA, PMP – Manager, Infrastructure
Marie-Eve’s project portfolio entails the construction, engineering, testing, and commissioning of large infrastructure projects, such as bridges, tunnels, transmission lines and transit systems. She has worked on the Canada Line, Calgary West Light Rail Transit, Metro de Montreal and most recently, the Confederation Line where she managed the rail installation. Her civil engineering background ensures the highest standards of maintenance for all the infrastructure on the Confederation Line.
Peter Stainforth – Manager, Operations Interface
After a 22-year career in the British Army, Peter successfully transitioned from uniform to the transit construction field. Peter has worked on the Crossrail project in London (UK), Confederation Line here in Ottawa and on the Eglington Crosstown project in Toronto as the Rail Access Manager. Peter joins Rideau Transit Maintenance as the Operations Interface Manager.
Tammy Lévesque, CRSP – Manager, Health, Safety, Quality and Environment
Tammy graduated from Bishop’s University with an Environmental Studies Bachelor degree. Tammy has certification in Occupational Health and Safety from Algonquin College. Also, Tammy is certified by the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional, and by the Infrastructure Health and Safety Association as a Certificate of Recognition Internal Auditor. Joining Rideau Transit Maintenance in 2019 as a Health and Safety Specialist, Tammy has since been promoted to Manager, Health and Safety, Quality and Environment.
Joan Uher – Manager, Human Resources
A graduate from York University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Joan also studied Business at Ryerson University and the University of Toronto. With more than 35 years of experience in human resources, payroll, security and operations management, as well a part-time Professor at Algonquin College, Joan joined Rideau Transit Maintenance in August 2016 as the Manager, Human Resources.
Glen Hanlan – Manager, Facility Maintenance
Glen joined Rideau Transit Maintenance (RTM) in 2016, bringing almost 10 years in facilities maintenance experience. Originally joining as a Supervisor of Facilities Maintenance, Glen has since been promoted to Manager of Facilities Maintenance. Glen supervises a dedicated facilities maintenance department with diverse skill sets that allow the department to agilely perform many aspects of preventative and reactive maintenance, keeping the Confederation Line stations safe and presentable.
Tom Pate – Senior Field Operations Specialist
Tom has been with the Confederation Line project since 2016 and brings 40 years of railway maintenance experience. A veteran of multiple disciplines of the rail industry and passionate about Safety, Customer Service and Continuous Improvement, the Confederation Line is Tom’s fourth start-up project in North America, another was Ottawa’s first light rail start-up approximately 20 years ago.
Aida Rodera – Project Manager – Stage 2
Aida holds a Master degree, Civil Engineering from the Polytechnical University of Barcelona. She brings a vast background of experience to Rideau Transit Maintenance (RTM) specifically the areas of tunneling and underground construction. Aida has been on the Confederation line project since 2014 and was previously part of the Barcelona Rail Transport project. Originally, working for the Ottawa Light Rail Transit Constructors as a Stage 1 Segment Manager, she has since progressed to a Project Manager of Stage 2 role with RTM.
